JChapman79 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Packers a B-. The Packers bet big and early on Sam Hartman, 57 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
However the rest shakes out, Flournoy at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
No edge and no loss on Cooper DeJean in Round 1, Pick 25; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick41
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
By-the-book stuff, Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick58
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in slot 58 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at pick 88 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick91
Rnd3
Trey Benson
A clean, defensible pick in the 91st overall pick with a little surplus value in Trey Benson. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick126
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
They went early on Roger Rosengarten in No. 126, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick169
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
A reach for Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 5, Pick 33; a little patience would have been rewarded. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick202
Rnd6
Sam Hartman
They reached a country mile for Sam Hartman at slot 202, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick219
Rnd6
Ryan Flournoy
They let Ryan Flournoy come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick245
Rnd7
Jalen Sundell
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Sundell. It fills a real need, too.
Pick255
Rnd7
Kalen DeLoach
A quiet steal in No. 255: Kalen DeLoach for less than the market said. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
