The real work happened on the phones. The Steelers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

Randolph Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. It is not that Foster is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first.

That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
