Draft Grade — Bills

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bills and Strong: B. Somebody in pick No. 170 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bills sat still while Dorian Strong, the No. 122 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Every board in the league had Pegues lower, and that gap is the story.
Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
James Pearce Jr. at Round 1, Pick 30 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick56
Rnd2
Jahdae Barron
Taking Jahdae Barron in slot 56 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick62
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick109
Rnd4
Tai Felton
Tai Felton in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jordan James
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jordan James at No. 132. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick169
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
They went early on JJ Pegues in the 169th overall pick, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick170
Rnd5
Dorian Strong
Steal is underselling it; Dorian Strong at pick No. 170 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jake Briningstool
They did well to land Jake Briningstool in pick 173, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick177
Rnd6
Kyle Williams
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kyle Williams in Round 6, Pick 1. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick206
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in slot 206 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
