Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B
ValueA+
NeedB-

FutureB-
The Bills let Lane fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Somebody in the 173rd overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bills sat still while Jaylin Lane, the No. 119 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 4 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick56
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
Steal is underselling it; Matthew Golden at Round 2, Pick 24 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick62
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
Value with a capital V on Darius Alexander in No. 109, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick132
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer in the 132nd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick169
Rnd5
Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong at the 169th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick170
Rnd5
Trevor Etienne
The board fumbled Trevor Etienne all the way to pick No. 170, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jaylin Lane
Jaylin Lane in slot 173 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick177
Rnd6
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in the 177th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
A quiet steal in pick No. 206: Jaylen Reed for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
