The Cowboys drew a line under the quarterback search with McCarthy: D.

The phones were a trap the Cowboys kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

The cost of the Limmer reach is exactly the players who went right after him. J.J. McCarthy is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The Trice pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with tight end still on the board.

They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Johnson to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
