The Cowboys lost the trade table, and the D tells the story. The Brady Cook selection is the head-turner. The Cowboys reached 115 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Thomas at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
