The Broncos cashed the board's mistake on Felton: B. Call it larceny. Tai Felton sat on the board until pick 122, and the Broncos did not need to be asked twice.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In No. 24 they get a wrecking ball inside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick51
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson in pick 51 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick85
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
Nothing to complain about; Barrett Carter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tai Felton
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 122nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick196
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
They let Jaylen Reed come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick197
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A quiet steal in slot 197: Dont'e Thornton Jr. for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 32 with a little surplus value in Jason Marshall Jr.. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick248
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
No edge and no loss on Kitan Crawford in the 248th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
