A franchise passer in McCarthy headlines a D weekend for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 174th pick on Jaylan Ford a full 41 spots early. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The whole projection now runs through J.J. McCarthy; hit there and everything else looks smarter.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
