The trade table was a mismatch, and the Bears were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

That Hampton pick is the receipt they will wave around later. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. Reaching for Burch left real value on the table behind him.

The Christian Watson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
