Ghatch81 DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bills let Carter fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Barrett Carter, the No. 78 name on the board, stolen at the 173rd overall pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Reaching for Huzzie left real value on the table behind him. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the 30th overall pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
They let Xavier Watts come to them and pounced at the Round 2 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick62
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau slid further than he should have, and slot 62 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick109
Rnd4
Kaleb Johnson
Circle this one: Kaleb Johnson at pick No. 109 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick132
Rnd4
Deone Walker
Steal is underselling it; Deone Walker at the 132nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick169
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malachi Moore in No. 169, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick170
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
No edge and no loss on Kyle Williams in pick 170; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick173
Rnd5
Barrett Carter
They will replay Barrett Carter at Round 5, Pick 35 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick177
Rnd6
LeQuint Allen
You do not let a running back like LeQuint Allen reach slot 177 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick206
Rnd6
Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie at pick 206 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
