Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesD+ FutureA
The Patriots robbed the room for Stout. Final grade: B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Upton Stout, the No. 192 name on the board, stolen at the Round 7 slot.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Trapilo pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In the 12th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value.
Pick23 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In slot 23 they get a red-zone target to build around at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick69 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
They went early on Ozzy Trapilo in the 69th pick, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick76 Rnd3 Elic Ayomanor
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 76 with a little surplus value in Elic Ayomanor. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick106 Rnd4 Devin Neal
Devin Neal in No. 106 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick144 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at Round 5, Pick 6 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick171 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
Tommi Hill in pick 171 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick220 Rnd7 Upton Stout
You do not let a safety like Upton Stout reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick238 Rnd7 Cam Horsley
They paid a round early for Cam Horsley in No. 238, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
