FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Steelers, and a B- to prove it. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Blake Fisher at the Round 3 slot is 34 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. That Smith pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a lockdown presence outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
No drama and no debate, Xavier Legette went about where he belonged in pick No. 36. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick84
Rnd3
Blake Fisher
Value said wait; Blake Fisher in No. 84 says they were not listening. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick119
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Davis. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick178
Rnd6
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in the 178th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick195
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent at the 195th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
