Hopper should have been long gone. The Buccaneers pounced, and earned a B-.

Call it larceny. Ty'Ron Hopper sat on the board until No. 220, and the Buccaneers did not need to be asked twice. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

They are betting Schrader proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Terrion Arnold
In the 26th pick they get a potential shutdown corner, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick57 Rnd2 Ladd McConkey
The board fumbled Ladd McConkey all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick92 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
A tidy little value on Dominick Puni in No. 92, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick105 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
A big swing on Beaux Limmer at pick No. 105, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146 Rnd5 Cody Schrader
They talked themselves into Cody Schrader at Round 5, Pick 10, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick182 Rnd6 Luke McCaffrey
Taking Luke McCaffrey in pick 182 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick220 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
Circle this one: Ty'Ron Hopper at the 220th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick225 Rnd7 Rasheen Ali
They will replay Rasheen Ali at slot 225 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick253 Rnd7 Tarheeb Still
The board had Tarheeb Still higher than slot 253, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
