Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesC FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Lions, and a B- to prove it.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Lions did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The Jefferson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That Rosemy-Jacksaint pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Job largely done: cornerback settled and 3 of 9 of the wish list covered.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick44 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zach Frazier in the 44th overall pick, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick61 Rnd2 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at the 61st pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ja'Lynn Polk. It fills a real need, too.
Pick112 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher in Round 4, Pick 12 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick164 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson in pick 164 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick201 Rnd6 M.J. Devonshire
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing M.J. Devonshire in the Round 6 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick205 Rnd6 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Nice patience on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, who had no business lasting to pick No. 205. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
