Tbeill1977 DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bills: B-. The Teddye Buchanan pick is the one that will follow the Bills into the fall. They took him 75 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Starks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Derrick Harmon
In pick 30 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks in slot 56 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick62
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
They liked Maxwell Hairston enough to skip the value, taking him in the 62nd pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick109
Rnd4
Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo in pick No. 109 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick132
Rnd4
Kyle Williams
They reached into another round for Kyle Williams, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick169
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley in No. 169 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick170
Rnd5
Clay Webb
Clay Webb at pick No. 170 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick173
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at the 173rd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick177
Rnd6
Teddye Buchanan
A wild overpay on Teddye Buchanan in slot 177, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick206
Rnd6
Cam Jackson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cam Jackson this early at Round 6, Pick 30. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
