Ycastillo19 DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueC-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B-. The Seahawks treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 50 on Jackson Slater a full 93 spots early. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The Howard pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In pick No. 18 they get a green-dot type in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jackson Slater
A wild overpay on Jackson Slater in pick 50, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in the 82nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92
Rnd3
Kaimon Rucker
Value said wait; Kaimon Rucker in slot 92 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick137
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick173
Rnd5
Will Howard
The board fumbled Will Howard all the way to the 173rd pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick187
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dont'e Thornton Jr. at Round 6, Pick 9. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick212
Rnd6
CJ West
CJ West at the 212th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick236
Rnd7
Jaylen Reed
They will replay Jaylen Reed at slot 236 for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
