Draft Grade — Jets

Nelson should have been long gone. The Jets pounced, and earned a B-. Somebody in the 207th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Jets sat still while Jack Nelson, the No. 180 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Allen has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In No. 7 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick42
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
Luther Burden III at pick No. 42 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick73
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Harold Fannin Jr. at Round 3, Pick 9 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick110
Rnd4
LeQuint Allen
They talked themselves into LeQuint Allen at the 110th pick, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick145
Rnd5
Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke at slot 145 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick162
Rnd5
Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant slipping to pick 162 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick207
Rnd6
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson in the 207th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
