Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Raiders. The Raiders clearly saw something nobody else did in Xavier Nwankpa, taking him 54 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Fields. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Francis Mauigoa
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jake Slaughter. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66
Rnd3
LaNorris Sellers
Nothing to complain about; LaNorris Sellers went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at No. 104 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick111
Rnd4
Malachi Fields
Taking Malachi Fields in the 111th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick134
Rnd4
Xavier Nwankpa
A real head-scratcher, Xavier Nwankpa in Round 4, Pick 34 is miles ahead of his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick173
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
They took Davison Igbinosun at par in the 173rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick181
Rnd6
Duce Robinson
Duce Robinson at Round 6, Pick 2 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick185
Rnd6
Antonio Kite
By-the-book stuff, Antonio Kite at pick 185 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick219
Rnd7
Cam Calhoun
Cam Calhoun in No. 219 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
