Ward should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B+. The board owed the Patriots one, and it paid up: Cam Ward, the No. 5 name on the board, sitting there at the 236th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
With tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The veteran additions, Cam Taylor-Britt chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
