Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
The 49ers won the night they stopped Milton from sliding. Grade: B.

The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kendall Milton fell into No. 211.

It is not that Brownlee Jr. is a bad player; it is that the 49ers had louder needs to answer first. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick69 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Nothing to complain about; Mike Sainristil went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick94 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
They let Michael Hall Jr. come to them and pounced at pick 94. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick104 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
By-the-book stuff, Zak Zinter at pick No. 104 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick120 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at the 120th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 4, Pick 23 on Jarvis Brownlee Jr. with quarterback, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick130 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Johnny Wilson at slot 130, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick132 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
A tidy bit of business in No. 132, where Sataoa Laumea graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick211 Rnd6 Kendall Milton
The board fumbled Kendall Milton all the way to No. 211, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick215 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
Circle this one: Jaylan Ford at the 215th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
