Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B+
ValueB-
NeedB+

FutureB
The Commanders bet the future on Daniels. The board says B+. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Reaching for Suamataia left real value on the table behind him.
On value alone, Wilson makes the weekend a net positive.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick15
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In No. 15 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kingsley Suamataia well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick43
Rnd2
Kamari Lassiter
By-the-book stuff, Kamari Lassiter at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick46
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at pick No. 46 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick67
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
No edge and no loss on Patrick Paul in pick 67; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick70
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie at slot 70 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick78
Rnd3
Max Melton
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Max Melton. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
They let Dominick Puni come to them and pounced at the 100th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick139
Rnd5
Johnny Wilson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Johnny Wilson at No. 139. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick152
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mason McCormick in slot 152. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
