Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Sadiq: A-. The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Kenyon Sadiq, the No. 17 name on the board, sitting there at the 148th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep.
For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Bottom line, with Mansoor Delane leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In slot 20 they get the heartbeat of the defense, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick29
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In pick No. 29 they get a potential shutdown corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick49
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Circle this one: Sonny Styles at the 49th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick59
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald at No. 59 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick92
Rnd3
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman in pick 92 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick106
Rnd4
Akheem Mesidor
They robbed the room for Akheem Mesidor here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick112
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds at the 112th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick148
Rnd5
Kenyon Sadiq
A tight end of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick152
Rnd5
Germie Bernard
Steal is underselling it; Germie Bernard at Round 5, Pick 12 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick167
Rnd5
Mike Washington Jr.
They will replay Mike Washington Jr. at the 167th pick for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick177
Rnd5
Max Llewellyn
Taking Max Llewellyn in pick 177 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick180
Rnd5
Jaishawn Barham
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Jaishawn Barham in the 180th overall pick, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
