Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Hampton: B.

Call it larceny. Omarion Hampton sat on the board until pick No. 58, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wilson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick79 Rnd3 Wyatt Milum
Nice patience on Wyatt Milum, who had no business lasting to the 79th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
The board had cheaper options than Jared Wilson at slot 94, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick166 Rnd5 Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne at pick No. 166 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick216 Rnd6 Caleb Ransaw
A clean, defensible pick in the 216th overall pick with a little surplus value in Caleb Ransaw. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick236 Rnd7 Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson in pick 236 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick241 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris in No. 241 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
