Draft Grade — Jets

FutureB+
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Jets. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Jets spent pick No. 256 on Devin Culp, a name most had 48 spots down the list. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Getting Harden where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick72
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker in No. 72 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick81
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock at Round 3, Pick 17 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick111
Rnd4
Javon Foster
They went early on Javon Foster in pick 111, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick166
Rnd5
Tahj Washington
Tahj Washington in the 166th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick185
Rnd6
Kamal Hadden
A slide stopped in slot 185, with Kamal Hadden worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick235
Rnd7
Myles Harden
Somehow Myles Harden was still sitting there in the 235th overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick240
Rnd7
Michael Barrett
Nothing to complain about; Michael Barrett went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick256
Rnd7
Devin Culp
Devin Culp at Round 7, Pick 36 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick257
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
By-the-book stuff, Sam Hartman at pick 257 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
