Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Grand theft in slot 198: the Patriots steal Barton and grade out a A-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Lander Barton tumbling to the Patriots in Round 6, Pick 23 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Colby reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

In the end it comes back to Kelvin Banks Jr., and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick67 Rnd3 Harold Fannin Jr.
They barely believed it either: Harold Fannin Jr. still on the board at pick No. 67. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick79 Rnd3 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in the 79th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick103 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tez Johnson at Round 4, Pick 2. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick124 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
Taking Deontae Lawson in slot 124 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick138 Rnd5 Connor Colby
This one needs a full-page explanation: Connor Colby in pick 138, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick198 Rnd6 Lander Barton
Lander Barton at No. 198 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick213 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at the 213th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick219 Rnd7 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in pick 219 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick220 Rnd7 Cam Skattebo
They will replay Cam Skattebo at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
The board fumbled Jack Kiser all the way to Round 7, Pick 22, and they scooped it up. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
