The Commanders drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: B-. The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Landing Eichenberg that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 2 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Pick36
Rnd2
Amarius Mims
A tidy bit of business in the 36th pick, where Amarius Mims graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick40
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the 40th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick78
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick100
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
A tidy little value on Khyree Jackson in Round 3, Pick 37, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick108
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Value with a capital V on Brenden Rice in No. 108, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick129
Rnd4
James Williams
James Williams at pick 129 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick139
Rnd5
Isaiah Adams
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Adams in slot 139, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick152
Rnd5
Beau Brade
The board fumbled Beau Brade all the way to No. 152, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick167
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in the 167th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick222
Rnd7
Frank Gore Jr.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Frank Gore Jr.. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
