Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Bengals did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Bengals left linebacker untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Reaching for Sinnott left real value on the table behind him. Braswell falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton in pick No. 27 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick54 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
They read the board right and Chris Braswell was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick71 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 7, where Kingsley Suamataia graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick80 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. in pick 80 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick97 Rnd3 Bucky Irving
A tidy little value on Bucky Irving in No. 97, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick108 Rnd4 Maason Smith
No drama and no debate, Maason Smith went about where he belonged in the 108th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick115 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
They went early on Ben Sinnott in slot 115, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138 Rnd5 Trevor Keegan
A straight-up fair deal on Trevor Keegan at the 138th pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick141 Rnd5 Anthony Gould
They paid sticker price for Anthony Gould in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick145 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones is a better player than the 145th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick232 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Frank Gore Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
