Draft Grade — Browns

FutureA
Grand theft in Round 5, Pick 30: the Browns steal Majors and grade out a A-. You could see the war room lean forward. Jake Majors at the 167th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
They paid sticker price for Abdul Carter in pick 4, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick33
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
They read the board right and Luther Burden III was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 1. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick38
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at No. 38 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick67
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
A running back of that caliber at slot 67 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick93
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at pick No. 93 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick103
Rnd4
Colston Loveland
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Colston Loveland in the 103rd pick, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick105
Rnd4
Deontae Lawson
Somehow Deontae Lawson was still sitting there in the 105th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick167
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick178
Rnd6
Cody Simon
You do not let a linebacker like Cody Simon reach pick 178 and blink. They did not. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick191
Rnd6
Addison West
Nothing to complain about; Addison West went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick203
Rnd6
Rod Moore
Steal is underselling it; Rod Moore at No. 203 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick214
Rnd6
Xavier Nwankpa
The board fumbled Xavier Nwankpa all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick215
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
They barely believed it either: DJ Giddens still on the board at the 215th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
