FutureB-
The Bills let Wilson fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Whoever sat across the table from the Bills should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Every board in the league had Clark lower, and that gap is the story.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick Analysis
Pick37
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in slot 37, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick60
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick69
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Payton Wilson in Round 3, Pick 5, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99
Rnd3
DeWayne Carter
By-the-book stuff, DeWayne Carter at No. 99 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick129
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara at the 129th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick143
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick at pick 143 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick159
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in No. 159 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jalyx Hunt
A premium they did not need to pay, Jalyx Hunt a notch or two before his time. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick198
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at pick No. 198 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick202
Rnd6
Emani Bailey
A straight-up fair deal on Emani Bailey at Round 6, Pick 27, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell in pick 206 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick246
Rnd7
De'Corian Clark
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for De'Corian Clark. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick256
Rnd7
Bub Means
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bub Means. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
