Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

ValueB-

TradesA+
FutureA-
The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+. The Bears torched the value chart for Isaiah Williams, taking him 42 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Dillon Radunz gives the group a proven body among the projects.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick13
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick 13 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 27th overall pick they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Darius Robinson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darius Robinson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick44
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Nubin went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick66
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at No. 66 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick71
Rnd3
Jaylen Wright
They jumped the gun on Jaylen Wright, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75
Rnd3
Mekhi Wingo
They talked themselves into Mekhi Wingo at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jaylin Simpson
They reached a country mile for Jaylin Simpson at the 111th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick123
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 123 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick143
Rnd5
Isaiah Williams
Isaiah Williams in pick 143 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick178
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jared Wiley. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
