The Patriots let Ponds fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. D'Angelo Ponds, the No. 48 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 95th overall pick.

Every board in the league had Demmings lower, and that gap is the story. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will answer for taking linebacker early while interior defensive lineman and quarterback went begging.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
