Nobody else had Kingsley Suamataia anywhere near pick 40. The Patriots did, by 21 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Tyjae Spears gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
