FutureB-
McCormick should have been long gone. The Bills pounced, and earned a C+. When a board-topper like Mason McCormick slides to the Round 6 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Bills did not.
The Limmer pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Hit on Xavier Legette and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick70
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
No edge and no loss on Xavier Legette in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
A safety of that caliber at slot 94 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick99
Rnd3
Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at No. 99 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick108
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara in the 108th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick129
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Somehow Braelon Allen was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 29, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick143
Rnd5
Sataoa Laumea
Circle this one: Sataoa Laumea at pick 143 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick159
Rnd5
Josh Newton
You do not let a cornerback like Josh Newton reach pick No. 159 and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick162
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
A straight-up fair deal on Luke McCaffrey at the 162nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176
Rnd6
Sione Vaki
Good price on Sione Vaki in the 176th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick198
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
The board fumbled Dwight McGlothern all the way to pick No. 198, and they scooped it up. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick202
Rnd6
Dillon Johnson
They robbed the room for Dillon Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick206
Rnd6
Mason McCormick
They barely believed it either: Mason McCormick still on the board at the 206th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick246
Rnd7
Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
