Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chargers were there to profit. DJ James, the No. 53 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 121.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Scott Miller gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
