Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Raiders bet the future on Mendoza. The board says D-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Raiders shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

So much rides on Fernando Mendoza that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Every board in the league had Iheanachor lower, and that gap is the story. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

That Mathews Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick 1 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick28 Rnd1 Dontay Corleone
In the 28th overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Zion Young
They liked Zion Young enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 36. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick67 Rnd3 Skyler Bell
A reach on Skyler Bell in slot 67; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick69 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott at the 69th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick102 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
A premium they did not need to pay, Bryce Lance a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick112 Rnd4 Caden Curry
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caden Curry at Round 4, Pick 12. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick117 Rnd4 Malachi Lawrence
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Malachi Lawrence well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick118 Rnd4 Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at slot 118 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. The roster fit checks out.
Pick155 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
No edge and no loss on Aaron Graves in pick No. 155; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick165 Rnd5 Lander Barton
Lander Barton at Round 5, Pick 27 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick174 Rnd5 Red Murdock
Nothing to complain about; Red Murdock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick177 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jermaine Mathews Jr. at the 177th overall pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
