FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Mendoza in the fold, and a B+ for the Raiders. The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Fernando Mendoza, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Reaching for Hunter left real value on the table behind him. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
By-the-book stuff, Fernando Mendoza at the Round 1 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick18
Rnd1
Joshua Josephs
In pick 18 they get a disruptor off the edge, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
A tidy little value on Jake Slaughter in pick No. 49, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick72
Rnd3
John Mateer
John Mateer in slot 72 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick101
Rnd4
Jack Endries
They paid a round early for Jack Endries in the 101st overall pick, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
A premium they did not need to pay, Bryce Lance a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick118
Rnd4
Bray Hubbard
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bray Hubbard in No. 118, miles early. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick136
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
A straight-up fair deal on Keylan Rutledge at Round 4, Pick 36, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick175
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
Gracen Halton at Round 5, Pick 36 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick182
Rnd6
Davison Igbinosun
They did well to land Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 182, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick183
Rnd6
Lee Hunter
They talked themselves into Lee Hunter at the 183rd pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick217
Rnd7
Raylen Wilson
The board had cheaper options than Raylen Wilson at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
