Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall C+
ValueD+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Steelers: C+.

The Steelers went off the board in a big way for Javon Foster, 55 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Spending an early pick on offensive lineman with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Landing Sainristil that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Zach Frazier
In pick 32 they get an anchor for the offensive line, a steep price for the projection. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Malachi Corley
A reach for Malachi Corley in slot 51; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick64 Rnd2 Javon Foster
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Javon Foster at offensive lineman with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots open.
Pick84 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
They read the board right and Mike Sainristil was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick98 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at No. 98 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick119 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in the 119th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick178 Rnd6 Trevin Wallace
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trevin Wallace in slot 178, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick195 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
By-the-book stuff, Joe Milton III at the 195th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
