JChapman79 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers

Draft Grade — Packers
Overall

FutureB-
The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Torrence: B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Ro Torrence tumbling to the Packers in pick No. 219 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Hopper has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Graham Barton
In pick 25 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 9, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick58
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
They took Payton Wilson at par in No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at pick No. 88 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick91
Rnd3
Gabriel Murphy
Gabriel Murphy at slot 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick126
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
They jumped the gun on Roger Rosengarten, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
They liked Ty'Ron Hopper enough to skip the value, taking him in the 169th overall pick. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick202
Rnd6
Ryan Flournoy
Ryan Flournoy in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick219
Rnd6
Ro Torrence
Ro Torrence at No. 219 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick245
Rnd7
Tyler Owens
Tyler Owens at pick 245 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick255
Rnd7
Rasheen Ali
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Rasheen Ali. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
