Draft Grade — Packers
Overall C
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesD- FutureC
The Packers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C.

Somebody took the Packers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It nets out a thoroughly average C.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Suamataia pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. It is not that Bishop is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first.

The Melton steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

If Jackson Powers-Johnson and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick 25 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in No. 41 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick63 Rnd2 Christian Haynes
By-the-book stuff, Christian Haynes at slot 63 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick78 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
They paid sticker price for Jaden Hicks in Round 3, Pick 14, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick91 Rnd3 Max Melton
Value with a capital V on Max Melton in the 91st pick, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Will Shipley
A reach on Will Shipley in the 94th overall pick; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick No. 100 on Cole Bishop with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick126 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
No edge and no loss on Johnny Wilson in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick131 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Javon Foster at pick No. 131 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Pick133 Rnd4 James Williams
A tidy bit of business in pick 133, where James Williams graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick202 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
A swing that ignored the value entirely, JD Bertrand well ahead of where he belonged. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick219 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall in No. 219 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick245 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Trevin Wallace in the Round 7 slot. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick255 Rnd7 Marcellas Dial
Marcellas Dial is a better player than the 255th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
