Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureB-
The Cowboys checked most of the boxes and earned a B. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Joe Milton III at pick 144 is 56 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
On value alone, Polk makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In pick No. 30 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
They did well to land Payton Wilson in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick87
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk slid further than he should have, and No. 87 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick90
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at slot 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick114
Rnd4
McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson at the 114th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick116
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
A premium they did not need to pay, Johnny Wilson a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick128
Rnd4
Dillon Johnson
A big swing on Dillon Johnson at slot 128, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick144
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
They talked themselves into Joe Milton III at pick 144, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick174
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
A reach on Tanor Bortolini in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick216
Rnd6
Miyan Williams
Value said wait; Miyan Williams in Round 6, Pick 41 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
