Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
D
ValueB+
NeedB

FutureB
The Falcons bled value on every deal, hence the D. The tape said wait; the Falcons did not. Jared Wilson went at slot 65, a good 39 picks before the board was ready.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Strong pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In slot 15 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren slid further than he should have, and pick No. 34 is lovely value for the tight end. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick38
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jalon Walker in the Round 2 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick51
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks in Round 2, Pick 19 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at the 65th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick118
Rnd4
Tai Felton
Taking Tai Felton in pick 118 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick154
Rnd5
Dorian Strong
They barely believed it either: Dorian Strong still on the board at No. 154. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick197
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
A slide stopped in slot 197, with JJ Pegues worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick218
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick219
Rnd7
Luke Elzinga
A tidy bit of business in the 219th pick, where Luke Elzinga graded well above the range. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick242
Rnd7
Cam Horsley
Value with a capital V on Cam Horsley in the 242nd overall pick, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
