Draft Grade — Titans
Overall
A-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesA-
FutureA+
The Titans let Hairston fall and pounced. Final grade: A-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Maxwell Hairston tumbling to the Titans in the 103rd overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Shough proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Bottom line, with Tetairoa McMillan leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick No. 14 they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
A quiet steal in the 35th overall pick: Nick Emmanwori for less than the market said. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick45
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at the 45th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick57
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson at pick 57 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick74
Rnd3
Cameron Williams
Good price on Cameron Williams in Round 3, Pick 10, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103
Rnd4
Maxwell Hairston
They robbed the room for Maxwell Hairston here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick117
Rnd4
Deone Walker
Deone Walker at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick120
Rnd4
Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at slot 120 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick141
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Nice patience on Jake Majors, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 3. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick167
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
A slide stopped in No. 167, with Bhayshul Tuten worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick178
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick 178 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick188
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
Fair-plus on JJ Pegues, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
