The Patriots kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Patriots never got to the one that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

Landing Klare that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They are betting Payne proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

In No. 31 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.

They read the board right and Omar Cooper Jr. was the payoff at pick 63. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

They will replay Max Klare at slot 95 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
