Draft Grade — Saints
Overall C-
ValueC NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Saints lost the trade table, and the C- tells the story.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Saints took Jasheen Davis a full 119 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. For now it grades a C-, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

Getting Wilson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In slot 9 they get a lead back with juice at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart in pick No. 40 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick71 Rnd3 Ajani Cornelius
A big swing on Ajani Cornelius at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick80 Rnd3 Luke Kandra
They reached into another round for Luke Kandra, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick93 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at No. 93 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
Pick110 Rnd4 Savion Williams
Savion Williams at pick 110 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick129 Rnd4 Rylie Mills
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Rylie Mills. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick150 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
They reached a country mile for Cobee Bryant at pick 150, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick182 Rnd6 Jasheen Davis
Value said wait; Jasheen Davis in pick No. 182 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick232 Rnd7 Hunter Wohler
A quiet steal in the 232nd overall pick: Hunter Wohler for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick251 Rnd7 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at slot 251 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick254 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at the Round 7 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
