Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB-
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B. The Bears went off the board in a big way for Patrick Payton, 57 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
On value alone, Hecht makes the weekend a net positive.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Dillon Thieneman
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a centerfielder for the defense at fair value.
Pick59
Rnd2
Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at slot 59 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick60
Rnd2
Derrick Moore
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Derrick Moore. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick77
Rnd3
Treydan Stukes
A conviction pick on Treydan Stukes at the Round 3 slot that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick89
Rnd3
Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance at the 89th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick106
Rnd4
Sam Hecht
Somehow Sam Hecht was still sitting there in pick 106, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick129
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
They did well to land Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 129, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick195
Rnd6
Patrick Payton
A big swing on Patrick Payton at the 195th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick239
Rnd7
Zavion Thomas
Nice patience on Zavion Thomas, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick241
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Zuhn III at slot 241, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
