Boke DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots

Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Nelson: B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jack Nelson got past him. The Patriots do not have to explain a thing at the 220th overall pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Parr to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the 4th pick they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Taking Tyler Warren in slot 38 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick69
Rnd3
Xavier Restrepo
A tidy little value on Xavier Restrepo in pick 69, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick77
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
They paid sticker price for Mason Taylor in pick No. 77, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick106
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams is a better player than No. 106 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144
Rnd5
Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in the 144th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick217
Rnd7
Jaylen Reed
You do not let a safety like Jaylen Reed reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick220
Rnd7
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson at Round 7, Pick 4 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick238
Rnd7
Logan Parr
They paid a round early for Logan Parr in the Round 7 slot, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
