Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Cardinals let Gabriel fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. The board owed the Cardinals one, and it paid up: Dillon Gabriel, the No. 128 name on the board, sitting there at No. 153 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Peebles pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Cameron Williams
In No. 16 they get a cornerstone up front, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams at Round 2, Pick 15 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Pick78
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
They paid sticker price for Barrett Carter in slot 78, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick114
Rnd4
Aeneas Peebles
They reached into another round for Aeneas Peebles, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick153
Rnd5
Dillon Gabriel
Somehow Dillon Gabriel was still sitting there in the 153rd pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
