Draft Grade — Packers
Overall C

Bullard should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a C.

You build a draft on nights like this. Javon Bullard had no business being available in pick 91, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They are betting Foster proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

It is not that Bullard is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the 25th pick they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A wild overpay on Zach Frazier in slot 41, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick63 Rnd2 Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall at No. 63 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at pick No. 88 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick91 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Javon Bullard at safety with quarterback and tight end open.
Pick94 Rnd3 Trey Benson
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick98 Rnd3 Javon Foster
Value said wait; Javon Foster in pick 98 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
Pick127 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
They let Tyler Davis come to them and pounced at the 127th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick132 Rnd4 Josh Newton
Josh Newton in the 132nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick168 Rnd5 Braiden McGregor
Braiden McGregor at pick No. 168 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick216 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
They did well to land JD Bertrand in No. 216, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick251 Rnd7 Ethan Driskell
By-the-book stuff, Ethan Driskell at pick 251 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
