Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B+
ValueC NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Seahawks fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

The Seahawks went off the board in a big way for Ty Hamilton, 76 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

Getting King where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick50 Rnd2 Josaiah Stewart
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josaiah Stewart. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
No drama and no debate, Donovan Ezeiruaku went about where he belonged in the 52nd overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
A conviction pick on Jared Wilson at No. 92 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick95 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
They paid sticker price for Darius Alexander in Round 3, Pick 31, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick96 Rnd3 Joshua Farmer
The board had cheaper options than Joshua Farmer at the 96th pick, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick111 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
They liked Emery Jones Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 111. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick114 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
The board had Jordan Phillips higher than Round 4, Pick 12, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick133 Rnd4 Logan Brown
Logan Brown in the 133rd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick134 Rnd4 Clay Webb
Value said wait; Clay Webb in pick 134 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jack Nelson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jack Nelson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at pick No. 161 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick165 Rnd5 Kobe King
The board fumbled Kobe King all the way to the 165th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick172 Rnd5 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in slot 172 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ty Hamilton
A real head-scratcher, Ty Hamilton in No. 175 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick223 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway at No. 223 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick234 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson at pick No. 234 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
