Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesF FutureA+
Jones Jr. should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Seahawks were there to profit. Emery Jones Jr., the No. 119 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 223. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

If Hamilton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick50 Rnd2 Shemar Stewart
Shemar Stewart in pick 50 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick55 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Steal is underselling it; Kenneth Grant at the 55th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick92 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in slot 92 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick97 Rnd3 Jordan Burch
They let Jordan Burch come to them and pounced at No. 97. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick125 Rnd4 Miles Frazier
A slide stopped in pick No. 125, with Miles Frazier worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick132 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors in the 132nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick137 Rnd4 Logan Brown
A reach on Logan Brown in Round 4, Pick 35; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick172 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra in slot 172 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jack Nelson
They paid sticker price for Jack Nelson in the 175th overall pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick177 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
No edge and no loss on JJ Pegues in the Round 6 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206 Rnd6 Ty Hamilton
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ty Hamilton well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick223 Rnd7 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. at the 223rd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick234 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson at pick 234 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
